2018 CDBG Application for Funding
The City of Palm Bay will receive approximately $703,841* in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for Program Year 2018 from October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019. The purpose of the CDBG Program is the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities principally for persons of low/moderate income. Eligible activities include public services, public facilities and improvements, housing, code enforcement, clearance and demolition, economic development, acquisition and disposition. At least 70% of all CDBG funds must be expended on program activities that benefit low/moderate income persons. Up to fifteen percent (15%), or approximately $105,576 may be utilized for public service activities. In an effort to facilitate the process, all public service funding requests shall be for at least $20,000. Also, the City prefers agencies that have proven experience with CDBG funding, especially with meeting the income verification requirements as outlined by HUD, to apply for funds.
Applications for eligible projects and activities will be available for non-profit or government agencies anytime during regular business hours after January 8, 2018. All applications can be picked up at the City of Palm Bay, Growth Management Department office at 120 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay, Florida, 32907. All proposals are due no later than 5:00 p.m., February 9, 2018.
All CDBG project applicants are required to attend a mandatory technical assistance workshop regarding the application process. Please note that applications will not be accepted from agencies that have not attended the technical assistance workshop.
The workshop for CDBG Projects will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Palm Bay City Hall Council Chambers, 120 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay, Florida 32907
*HUD CDBG allocation is estimated until federal Fiscal Year 2018-2019 budget is approved
