City of Palm Bay Facilities Reopen to the Public

The City of Palm Bay has reopened City facilities to the public with the exception of the Palm Bay Senior Center, Ted Whitlock Community Center, Tony Rosa Community Center, and the Margaret Hames Nature Center.

To limit the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the number of person-to-person interactions, the City will continue to facilitate remote and contactless service options. Citizens are encouraged to continue utilizing the City’s online service options and contacting staff by telephone or email whenever possible.

SHIP Housing Assistance Program

Post Date:06/30/2020 12:16 PM

Effective July 1, 2020, the City of Palm Bay will no longer accept new applications for its SHIP Housing Assistance Program(s).

On June 30, 2020, the City of Palm Bay was notified by Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC) of Governor DeSantis’s veto of the 2020-2021 fiscal year (FY) appropriation for State Housing Investment Partnership (SHIP) Program, grant funds providing assistance to homeowners with rehabilitation, down payment assistance, and utility hookup assistance to name a few. This is the result of the uncertainty of the SHIP Program going forward as the State continues to respond to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While it is disappointing to learn that the City will not receive its SHIP allocation for Fiscal Year 2020-2021, Palm Bay residents currently on the wait list will be assisted subject to current funding availability. Once all current funds are expended residents on the wait list will maintain their place and be notified when funds become available. The City will continue to keep residents and the public informed as SHIP funds become available and the wait list is reopened.

Inquiries may be made to the City’s Housing Division at HCDinfo@pbfl.org or (321) 726-5633.
