Playground Destroyed by Arson Has Been Replaced
The Palm Bay Parks & Recreation Department has replaced the playground which was destroyed by an arsonist last July at Twin Lakes Park on Bianca Drive NE in Palm Bay. Construction of the new playground got underway last week and finished up this past weekend. The playground is now open for the public to enjoy as of February 3.
The playground was rebuilt in a new location one half of a mile north on Bianca Drive, inside of Goode Park located at 1300 Bianca Drive NE. “We felt that moving the playground to Goode Park, was a better choice because of the increased amenities at that location,” said Fred Poppe, Palm Bay Parks & Recreation Department Director. “The new location is close to restroom facilities, parking, a pavilion, more seating, and more shade.”
The new playground was paid for with the insurance settlement received due to the old playground being destroyed by fire. For more information, call the Palm Bay Parks & Recreation department at (321) 953-8912.
