Palm Bay Fire Rescue Awarded Hazard Mitigation Grant
Awarded $313,436 DOE Grant
Palm Bay Fire Rescue has been awarded a $313,436 grant from the Florida Department of Emergency Management's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. These funds will allow the City of Palm Bay to harden Fire Stations 2, 3, and 4 by providing funding for a new roof at Fire Station 2, new generators at Stations 2 and 3, and a diesel fueling tank at Station 4. The grant will also provide funding for new bay doors, exterior doors, and impact resistant windows at all three fire stations.
FEMA provided this funding to the Florida Department of Emergency Management for hazard mitigation activities following the impacts of Hurricane Irma in 2017. Palm Bay Fire Rescue applied for this funding in August of 2018 and was awarded $313,436 in July 2019.
Over the past two years, Palm Bay Fire Rescue has successfully secured $2,404,406 million in grant funding: $1,200,000 for apparatus, $1,169,485 for facilities, and $34,921 for equipment.
