PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE ISSUED FOR AREA FROM MINTON EAST TO I-95, BETWEEN C-74 AND C-1 CANALS
EFFECTIVE March 4, 2019
PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE
To residents of Palm Bay, Brevard County, Florida, located in the following area:
Minton Road east to I-95, between the C-74 canal (Narragansett Street) to the north and the C-1 canal (Hurst Road/Hunan Street) to the south
On Monday, March 4, 2019, Palm Bay Utilities experienced an unexpected drop in pressure in an area of the water system while conducting system isolations ahead of a scheduled shut off related to a culvert replacement project at the C-75 canal crossing at Emerson Drive. There are up to 77 streets affected by the service disruption, bordered by Minton Road on the west, I-95 on the east, Canal C-74 on the north and Canal C-1 on the south. The drop in pressure inside the water lines has mandated a precautionary boil water notice for the impacted area.
Therefore, as a precaution, we advise that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dished be boiled prior to use. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. Affected customers will be notified once a rescission has been issued and the boil water notice has been lifted.
Field crews are currently working to determine the cause of the drop in pressure in the water distribution system. Early reports indicate a possible broken or inadvertently closed valve in the area. Once a cause is determined, corrective measures will be taken in order to restore normal service throughout the area.
