2018 Palm Bay Utilities Holiday Ornament Contest

Post Date:09/20/2018 11:03 AM

Holiday Award Invite and Thank You 2018

For three years, Palm Bay Utilities has reached out to schools to get a little help with the holiday decorations for the City Tree. Students decorate water-themed ornaments such as snowmen, snowflakes, recycled plastic water bottles turned into bells and more. This project is part of an educational outreach message to communicate the importance preserving our natural clean water sources.  The snowflakes and snowmen are not native to Florida. They represent one of the states of water not seen here in the wild, which is ice.

The students are invited to see their ornaments on the City Holiday Tree at the Tree Lighting Ceremony in December!  Palm Bay school choirs come out to put on a show for the community and Santa Claus will come out with City representatives to flip the switch and light the tree! All of the student’s ornaments are on display for the entire City to see!

The student’s ornaments are also on display for Palm Bay’s annual Breakfast with Santa and the Holiday Light Parade. We encourage all to participate in attending these events no matter how old, you just need to be young at heart!

Three winners are chosen from each category. These winners will receive a trophy and a placement certificate, which they will be given at the December City Council meeting.  They will be called up on stage and congratulated by the Utilities Director, the Utilities Information Coordinator, and City Council members.

All participants will receive a certificate for their decorative contributions.

All Palm Bay Schools are invited to participate, including home schools!
