The Palm Bay Police Department has teamed up with Disability Independence Group to offer the Wallet Card® Project, a program developed through a partnership with Coral Gables Police Department and UM-NSU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities. The wallet card, along with an interactive training with police officers, helps individuals communicate clearly with law enforcement and includes information such as the person's name, disability, emergency contact, and any specific triggers.
The Wallet Card may be requested for free online at www.justdigit.org/wallet-cards. Individuals applying for the card can watch a short video that explains how to use the card and provides tips on how to safely interact with law enforcement. To participate in the Palm Bay Police Department's interactive training with officers, please contact Sergeant Tina Hensel at 321-726-5652.
