West Oaks Park Renaming Ceremony

to be Renamed Lynne Manion Nungesser Park

On Saturday, November 16, the City of Palm Bay will hold a ceremony to officially rename West Oaks Park for former Deputy City of Palm Bay Police Chief Lynne Nungesser. Lynne worked for the City of Palm Bay for over 40 years. She was also a great supporter of the Police Athletic League organization and worked to help assemble a baseball team to represent the City of Palm Bay. Nungesser loved the police department and her many colleagues and friends, and she also loved spending time at the ballpark. Lynne Manion Nungesser passed away this past Mother's Day at the age of 63. She was the first female police commander in Brevard County.

The park renaming ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the park's front entrance sign. Over 50 of Lynne's family members plus city employees and officials are expected to participate.

Palm Bay West Little League will be playing games during the event. There will be a free bounce house for kids to enjoy. Palm Bay West Little League will also host a cookout with all proceeds benefiting the league. At 11:30 a.m. there will be a softball game featuring a Nungesser/Manion Family team versus a team of Palm Bay Police Officers and City Employees.
The public is invited to attend the renaming ceremony, cookout, and baseball & softball games. For more information please call the Palm Bay Parks & Recreation Administration office at (321) 953-8912.
