The Difference Between Here And The Rest Of The Planet

You don't need to be a sports nut to love the Space Coast. But they all do. If you enjoy getting out of the house, breathing fresh air and playing outside, our weather will make sure you get more than enough time to do it.

Since the average temperature is about 72 degrees, you might find yourself going to work on casual Friday dressed in khaki shorts, a polo and boat shoes. Not only will you be comfortable all day, you won't have to change clothes to catch a quick nine on the way home. There are more than 37 golf courses in the county.

Tennis is one of the most popular sports on the Space Coast. There are Men's, Women's, and Mixed Doubles leagues operating throughout the county everyday of the week.

Boating and water sports are family favorites enjoyed all year long. Fishing, water-skiing, sail boarding and crew teams can be found on any given day on the intra-coastal waterway or the Banana River.

If you want to venture offshore and catch something as big as your car, then you can run right out of Sebastian Inlet from the south end of the county or Port Canaveral north. Dozens of deep sea fishing charters are available if you want someone else responsible when the seas get humongous. The St. Johns River and Palm Bay's stick marsh are famous and loaded with large mouth bass. Get your motor running and get out there.

Crew teams, surfers, sailboarders, kite surfers, kayakers and the like are living life to their fullest every weekend - and all during the week. The Yacht Club and other sailing clubs take advantage of the huge fetches of water for racing and practicing for the Gulf Stream cross to the Bahamas. It's about a two-day sail with favorable winds.

The Washington Nationals call Viera home for Spring Training, so you can catch major leaguers in the spring and up-and-comers all summer. Our home team is the Manatees. The Viera Stadium is a new facility with great family activities like fireworks, concerts and special events held during, after, and between games. If you like to play more than watch, softball, baseball, football, soccer, volleyball, and basketball leagues run all year to keep weekend warriors living the good old days.

Suppose you just want to "be" outside. Load up on the sunscreen, pull up an umbrella or beach chair and have at it. It's a beautiful world we have down here, and that is what sets us apart from the rest of the planet.
