Community Investment Program - Unit 16

In May 2009, the City of Palm received a low interest loan and partial grant through the Department of Environmental Protection's State Revolving Fund (SRF) and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to install water lines and fire hydrants throughout Unit 16.

Unit 16 Project SignConstruction began in Phase 1 of Unit 16 the week of October 19, 2009. The Utilities Department received approval/clearance from the Department of Environmental Protection for the water lines in Phase 1 in early February. Property owners in Construction Phase 1 now have access to the City's water system and are encouraged to make connection.

Construction began in Phase 2 of Unit 16 in early February 2010.

However, work to install the water lines in this area was stalled due to contractual issues.  The Utilities staff and City management has worked diligently to resolve the issue, and on December 2, 2010, the City Council approved a new contractor to continue construction in this area.  Work crews resumed work on December 6th.

Once completed, approximately 105,000 linear feet of water lines will be installed along with 98 additional fire hydrants.
