Pollution Prevention

Pollution is the creation, emission or discharge of contaminants or waste materials.  Pollution prevention focuses on avoiding, reducing or controlling the creation, emission or discharge of contaminants or waste materials. 

Pollution prevention can be implemented in a myriad of ways and include elimination of the pollutant at its source; efficient use of resources via reuse, recovery, reclamation and recycling; process redesign and substitution of one type of material for another cleaner material.
