2012 Relay for Life

Relay for LifeThe American Cancer Society is seeking teams of 8-15 people for its annual Relay For Life, to be held at Bayside High School to take place on April 14, 2012 at 2pm.

Teams of up to 15 people each participate by sponsoring various money-raising events and activities prior to the Relay, then take turns at the event itself walking or running around the track so that at least one person from each team is on the track during the overnight event.  Teams also set up campsites and other makeshift accommodations at the Relay site, forming a community celebration of life.  Entertainment is provided by local groups.

The purpose of the Relay For Life, which is the American Cancer Society’s National Signature Activity,  is to seek funds to help fight cancer and to bring about greater awareness of the disease.  Relays were held in more than 3,000 communities last year raising more than $212 million and drawing two million participants.
