street lighting
Our need to balance lighting to ensure vehicle traffic safety while controlling light pollution is a challenge. The development of a City wide Master Street Light plan is in progress which will enable the City to be proactive in responding to our neighborhoods as they expand while limiting light pollution. Currently, the process for requesting a street light is as follows:
Requesting a Street Light
1) Street Light Request: Citizens must make a street light request in
order to begin the process of acquiring a street light within their
neighborhood.
a. Contact the City of Palm Bay Public Works
Department/Customer Service at 321-952-3438, or in person at
1050 Malabar Rd. SE, Palm Bay, Florida. You can also
contact us via e-mail or you can send us an electronic
Customer Service Request .
b. The street light request is input into the City work order system
and directed to the appropriate Public Works Department staff
for evaluation.
2) Street Light Request Evaluation: A Public Works Department
Right-of-Way Use Engineering Inspector will conduct a field
evaluation of the street light request and will inform the requestor
of the decision.
a. Street Light Installation: The entire process from start
(requesting a street light) to finish (installation of a working
street light) may take up to 12 months.
b. To report Electrical Emergencies, Power Outages or Street
Light Outages and Street Lights on during daylight hours,
please call FPL’s 24-Hour Phone Center: 1-800-4-OUTAGE,
(1-800-468-8243), 1-800-375-2434, 561-478-6399.
