Clean-up Blitz
Cleanup Blitz (CLUB) is the City of Palm Bay’s proactive improvement program herein employees from all City service departments spend one day in a targeted area cleaning up the right-of-ways and addressing everything from potholes to fire safety and crime prevention.
In preparation, signs delineating the selected area are posted and a checklist of items to be addressed is compiled. Area residents are notified of the scheduled event and invited to join our cleanup efforts.
On the day of the event, the Public Works Department picks up trash and debris, cleans and mows the right-of-ways, and repairs the area’s street signs. The Police Department Neighborhood Policing Unit (NPU) surveys the area for neighborhood concerns. The Fire Department provides safety inspections and smoke detectors, and shares information on the “Vial of Life” program. Code Compliance sweeps the area for code and safety violations. The Utilities Department inspects the fire hydrants, and provides water-conserving shower heads and tips on water consumption. At the end of the day’s activities, we review the teams’ accomplishments while eating lunch together. All identified items that could not be completed during the event are referred to the appropriate City divisions and departments and added to their project and maintenance schedules.
The CLUB program offers an excellent opportunity for City staff and area residents to get to know one another while improving the local community. If you’d like this program to come to your area, please feel free to call us at 321-953-8996 and we’ll set up an organizational meeting with you and your neighbors.
