The intent of the program is detecting and deterring crime.  This enforcement program stresses instantaneous information being broadcast to police units without the information being filtered when it is given to the Communications Center.

Methodology:  Persons representative of the above described groups will receive training by members of the police department covering the following areas:

  • Observing suspicious activity to include:
    • Criminal behavior
    • Errant traffic behavior to include:
      • Aggressive driving
      • Reckless and careless driving
      • Drunk driving
      • Hit and run driving
      • Speeding

  • How to contact the Police Department’s Communication/Dispatch Center utilizing their Blue Halo Call Screener identification number to provide immediate dispatch.

Police personnel, including police dispatchers, will be given an introduction into the program which will discuss the purpose and potential benefits of the program. The program will also expose police employees to promotional material and Blue Halo identification cards given to the business community members. The Program was implemented the week of February 19, 2007.
