what happens when the city gets an alarm?

  • For general intrusion and panic/holdup alarms:
    • Two patrol cars are dispatched.
    • Officers check the alarm site looking for any sign of criminal activity.
    • If doors or windows are unlocked or open, officers enter the building to investigate further.
    • If they see no evidence of a problem, they leave a false alarm notice so that you know there was an alarm and that they responded.
  • For medical or fire alarms:
    • Fire department trucks and personnel are sent to the alarm site.
    • Another fire station is put on alert to cover the area normally covered by the station on the alarm call.
    • If they see no evidence of a problem, they leave a false alarm notice so that you know there was an alarm and that they responded.
