The Public Information Office of the Palm Bay Police Department is now part of the YouTube mania that has opened the door to millions of potential viewers to learn about one of Brevard County's largest municipal law enforcement agencies and to help solve crimes.  The Department has set up a standard channel through YouTube where vital information is posted including surveillance images of crimes caught on tape, special segments involving unsolved crimes, and features highlighting the Department's personnel and activities.

The channel currently has ten videos posted including recent surveillance videos of a woman stealing a cash envelope from a local bank, and a group of masked burglars stealing cellular phones from a local distributor.  One of the most popular videos on the site to date involves the Department's active shooter training.

The Public Information Office is responsible for managing the content, posting the videos, bulletins and information, and monitoring subscribers.  The videos are updated on a regular basis and anyone interested can subscribe to the channel through a free YouTube account.  Subscribers will receive notifications when new videos and information are posted.

Detectives Release Composite Sketch in Homicide

Composite White Road Homicide

Detectives are hoping a composite sketch of a possible suspect in an unsolved homicide will generate new information that will help solve the crime.  The Victim, Kenneth Smith, 42, was shot to death on January 26th in front of the home he was temporarily residing in located at 107 White Road.  A witness came forward early in the investigation and provided a description of one of the suspects.  At the time, a computer-generated composite sketch turned out to be of little resemblance to what the witness described.  Detectives then sought the assistance of a forensic artist based out of Orlando.  Working with the witness again, a new sketch was generated that more accurately depicts the potential suspect.

At the time of the homicide, the witness states two black males came to the home inquiring about a vehicle for sale.  When the victim stepped outside, he was shot and the suspects fled the scene.

Anyone with information should contact the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.  Callers can remain anonymous and in this case can be eligible for cash rewards of up to $15,000.
