Traffic unit

Officers Andrea and Van Zandt Traffic enforcement has been a top priority with a renewed effort to saturate the roadways with increased “zero-tolerance” enforcement.  The Palm Bay Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is divided equally among three districts with 8 officers on motorcycles.  This number reflects the addition of four new officers dedicated full time to enforcing traffic laws.  The Traffic Enforcement Unit also has two drug detection dogs dedicated to finding and seizing illegal drugs being transported on the roadways, including a three mile stretch of I-95.

Officers will continue to proactively pursue traffic violators with targeted enforcement in problem areas in an effort to reduce the number of crashes and improve the overall safety of the roadways.
