The Palm Bay Police Explorer Post was established in the early 1970’s to develop a more positive relationship between police officers and the youth of the community.

The Explorers is one of the most exciting organizations in which a young person can be involved.  Explorers are young men and women ages 14 - 21 who have an interest in law enforcement. Explorers are provided first-hand knowledge of law enforcement procedures. Explorers are trained in various areas of law enforcement by volunteer Palm Bay Police Officers. Explorers also earn community service hours assisting various civic groups within the community.

The Explorers are chartered through the Boy Scouts of America and are sponsored by the Palm Bay Police Department Police Athletic League..

The Palm Bay Police Department Explorers are also members of the Florida Association of Police Explorers (FAPE).  There are over 50 other posts throughout the state that are members of this association.  Members gather once a year at the annual FAPE State Convention.

It is our hope through training and experiences that the youth of our community will become involved in law enforcement and community service.

The objectives of the Palm Bay Police Explorers are to develop good character, citizenship and a positive attitude toward law enforcement; to train post members in the field of law enforcement; and to provide an additional source of trained manpower to assist the Police Department in the accomplishment of its duties.

For more information, contact Officer Frank Tobar or Officer Lin Badman at (321) 733-3020 or via e-mail.
