Victoria Park

A gorgeous Fall day on October 13th, 2007, greeted an enthusiastic mix of Palm Bay City officials, neighborhood residents, representatives from Parks and Recreation, Public Works, the Recreation Advisory Board, the Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Bayfront Community Redevelopment Agency at the dedication of  Palm Bays' newest neighborhood gathering area, Victoria Park. Councilwoman Donna Brooks, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, said she was thrilled because "It increases the quality of life for the neighborhood and was a partnership between many organizations and staff throughout Palm Bay," She proceeded to cut the ribbon provided by the Chamber as local kids wasted no time climbing on the new swingset and playstation.

Councilwoman Brooks and Deputy City Manager Sue Hann spoke about how the formerly blighted area that was prone to flooding, frequented by drug dealers and covered with trash has been transformed into a park that the neighborhood can be proud of, and is safer due to channeling and drainage work performed by Palm Bay Public Works. The BCRA's Mary Jane Palmer Browning spoke to the success of the partnership. The Bayfront Community  Redevelopment Agency paid for a beautiful 600- foot- long shadowbox fence that separates Victoria Park from the nearby railroad tracks, as well as other features such as the stainless- steel barbeque. Councilman Pat Woodard also attended the ceremony.

The park is located at the west end of Victoria Drive NE in the extreme northeast part of the City. To get there, go north on US1 from Palm Bay Rd. and turn left on Victoria across from the Honda Dealership.
