Get ready for the opening of the McGriff Skate Park Saturday, August 23rd at 1pm!

McGriff ParkHonoring the memory of Palm Bay High School All-American James McGriff, a new park with a nature trail, playfield and a unique playground is also getting the fantastic addition of an urban skate park with rails, ramps, steps and a bowl. Parks and Recreation staff have been working non-stop on the project, which will provide southwest Palm Bay with a beautiful Community Park that has ample parking, a large pavilion with rest rooms and the new-concept Nexus playground, and now, Brevard County's newest outdoor skate facility. The park's terrain is designed and built by American Ramp Company with their Pro- Terrain line, and input from local skaters was considered in it's design. The skate facility will officially open Saturday August 23rd at 1pm with a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony. The Nexus play structure is designed and engineered to attract and challenge more sophisticated ‘tweens’, kids between the ages of 7 and 14. The ultra-modern equipment, which looks like a sculpture, includes a mini-climbing wall, as well as other action-oriented features like scramble nets and spinning wheels. McGriff Park was created with matching funds from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program obtained through grants awarded to the city.
