Traditional Japanese Swordsmanship of the Toyama Ryu Batto Do style. This art form does not require any previous martial arts experience and teaches the methods, handling and actual use of the Japanese Katana including Test cutting( Tameshigiri) .
Classes are taught to the same standards as the home dojo does in Machida Japan. No uniform or equipment is required to begin classes. Ages are 15 and up with parental permission required for those under 18. New students are requested to stop by and view a class prior to signing up.
Classes are taught by Tom Smyth Sensei who is a senior member of the All Japan Toyama Ryu Federation, the All Japan Batto Do Federation, the US Federation of Batto do and Seizankai. Tom travels to Japan Regularly to train and competes in the Japanese national tournaments.
