The Public Information Office of the Palm Bay Police Department is now part of the YouTube mania that has opened the door to millions of potential viewers to learn about one of Brevard County’s largest municipal law enforcement agencies and to help solve crimes.  The Department has set up a standard channel through YouTube where vital information is posted including surveillance images of crimes caught on tape, special segments involving unsolved crimes, and features highlighting the Department’s personnel and activities.   “This is the way of the future,” said Deputy Chief Doug Muldoon who initiated the idea.  “We want to use all of the tools available to us to get our message out.”

The channel, www.youtube.com/pbpdpio currently has ten videos posted including recent surveillance images of a woman stealing a cash envelope from a local bank, and a group of masked burglars stealing cell phones from a local distributor.  With the surveillance videos is information detailing the incidents and directing people with information to contact authorities.
