PBPD Off The Cuff Now Available on the Web
Posted: 07/17/08
The award winning Palm Bay Police Department’s “Off the Cuff” television program is now available on the web. The thirty-minute monthly program highlights the Department’s personnel, activities and programs and is designed to give viewers an inside look at the job of law enforcement personnel. The show first debuted in 2006 and is produced entirely in-house through the Public Information Office. In 2007, “Off the Cuff” earned International recognition with the Telly Award for excellence in television programming.
“What we have here is a unique opportunity to see the inner workings of the police department,” said Police Chief Bill Berger, who initiated the idea for the public service programming. “What we hope to do is educate the viewers about what we do and at the same time offer valuable information on how they can protect themselves from crime.”
To date, more than a dozen episodes have been produced with segments featuring the Department’s K-9 Unit, training activities, traffic enforcement, patrol operations, special investigations and helpful information about crime prevention. The current episode focuses on the Mother’s Day wildfires and it can be viewed at the Police Department’s website at www.palmbaypd.org and click on the “Off the Cuff” logo. The show is also broadcast on the local cable channel 15 each Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and repeating each Friday at 7:00 p.m.
