The Palm Bay Police Department will host its 4th Annual Hurricane Awareness Seminar on Saturday, June 28th from 9 A.M. until noon at the Palm Bay Campus of Brevard Community College in the auditorium. The keynote speaker for the event will be WFTV Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry who will offer a look back at the 2007 hurricane season and predictions for what’s ahead. Other featured speakers will include Kathleen Bishop from the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, Major John Blackledge of the Criminal Investigations Division discussing frauds and other scams following a disaster, and Brevard County Emergency Management Director Bob Lay will discuss preparedness and offer helpful information about getting through a natural disaster. “This event is designed to keep citizens aware of the dangers we face during hurricane season,” said Officer Becky Smith coordinator of the Department’s emergency management function. “We don’t want people to get complacent. The best way to prepare for these storms is to stay informed and ready.”
The event is free and open to the public with no requirement for pre-registration. For more information, contact the Public Information Office at 321-952-3400 ext. 4678.
