Purchasing Office Earns State Excellence Award

The City of Palm Bay’s Purchasing and Contracts Division has earned the Award for Excellence in Public Procurement for 2008 from the Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers, Inc. The City is one of only 10 Florida agencies to receive the Award of Excellence in the State of Florida. The award was established to recognize organizational excellence in procurement. It recognizes agencies that meet or exceed benchmarks and best practices in the procurement profession and is achieved by those organizations that obtain a high score on a rating of standardized criteria. The program is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes of the procurement function.
The Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers Inc., (FAPPO) has a membership that consists of nearly 1,100 procurement professionals representing over 300 agencies throughout the State of Florida. FAPPO is comprised of many different types of local government agencies to include municipalities, counties, state, special districts and authorities, universities and colleges, public utilities and sheriff offices.
