City of Palm Bay News Release

police host community event

Posted: 2/19/08

In an effort to increase public awareness and create more positive relationships between law enforcement, the community, and local business owners, the Palm Bay Police Department’s Neighborhood Policing Unit will host an outreach event designed to join forces with residents and local business owners in an effort to create safer communities.  “Five-O-Fever” will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Palm Bay West Shopping Center located at the southwest corner of Minton Road and Malabar Road.  Neighborhood Policing Coordinators have organized the event to showcase various areas of law enforcement including Traffic Enforcement, SWAT, K-9, Dive Team, Neighborhood Policing Unit, and other high-profile units serving the citizens.  “We are hoping to educate the public about what we do,” said Officer Jevon Brown who is coordinating the event.  “A public that is aware and educated on crime prevention matters can only contribute to the overall safety of the community, and that’s our primary goal.”

The event is in its third year and is part of the Police Department’s commitment to community oriented policing.   Crime prevention information and resources will also be available.  The event is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Officer Jevon Brown at 321-733-3053.
