City of Palm Bay News Release
fundraiser to help cops and kids for christmas project
Posted: 10/11/07
Palm Bay Police Officers will trade in their guns and badges for soap brushes and buckets of water in an effort to raise money for dozens of children for Christmas. A car wash to benefit Cops and Kids for Christmas 2008 will be held Saturday, October 13th from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at City Hall located at 130 Malabar Road. The car wash will take place in the parking lot to the rear of the City Hall complex near Sacrifice Park. Any donation will be accepted. The money raised will allow more than 100 children to go on a shopping spree at the local Wal-Mart during the month of December. A police officer will be paired with a child and will be allowed to spend up to $100 for any gifts the child chooses. “We’re hoping to raise more than $15,000 so we can help as many children as we can,” said Officer Joann Upperman. “It is such a worthy program and makes such a positive difference in the lives of these children that would otherwise have nothing for Christmas.”
Donations are being accepted through the Palm Bay Police Department. Checks can be sent to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 111 c/o the Palm Bay Police Department at 130 Malabar Road, Palm Bay, FL 32907. Please put to the attention of Cops and Kids for Christmas 2007. Auto Zone on Malabar Road is donating the car wash supplies for this event.
