Police Investigate Report of Attempted Abduction - Update Suspect Description

Detectives continue to follow leads in the case of a reported abduction attempt that occurred Monday evening. More details involving the physical description of the suspect include a skin discoloration on the right side of the suspect’s face underneath the jaw line, possibly a birthmark. The suspect is a dark skinned, tan male with no specific race described. A reverse 9-1-1 is being issued in the affected area, which is the southwest portion of the City. Officers will be in the area with enhanced patrols and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will assist again with a follow-up search of the area. Volunteers will be circulating flyers with the suspect’s composite sketch to area businesses, residents and nearby schools. Anyone with information should contact CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.

POLICE INVESTIGATE REPORT OF ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION
(Palm Bay)—Detectives and patrol officers are currently investigating a report of an attempted abduction that occurred Monday evening. At approximately 7:25 p.m. an eleven-year old walking along Fournier Street Southwest says a man grabbed her by her wrist and attempted to pull her into a wooded lot just off the road. The girl described the man as possibly Hispanic in his thirties approximately 6’ to 6’4’’ tall, slim build, blue eyes, wearing a gray tank top, blue jeans and light colored tennis shoes. The girl managed to escape and ran home. Patrol officers launched a search with the assistance of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, and a K-9 unit on the ground. The search did not locate a suspect. Crime Scene Investigators responded to the area and collected some evidence for processing. Detectives with the child abuse and sex crimes unit responded and interviewed the victim and developed a composite sketch of the suspect.
