The State of Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) awarded $1,000,000 to the City of Palm Bay for the My Safe Florida Home Program. In Palm Bay, the funds will be used to assist eligible homeowners in purchasing storm shutters to protect window openings. The City of Palm Bay is administering the program by providing up to $5,000 of the match-money to 200 eligible homeowners.  The homeowners receiving the assistance were selected by lottery in August 2007.
