scrub jay lots

Starting April 23, 2007, lot owners throughout the City will be able to obtain building permits for their property located in scrub jay areas. The permit does include some restrictions on clearing between March 1st and June 30th for lots within the habitat area, but building is allowed to occur.

Permits will be charged an additional $125 per quarter acre. Annual monitoring of scrub jay nests and annual reporting are also required as part of the permit conditions.

Information is taken from the City of Palm Bay Unit Map with Scrub Polygons supplied by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, North Florida Field Office, has provided information in greater detail. Contact Errin Gawera at the Wildlife Service at 904-731-3121.
