Boards and Committees

Divisions of the Growth Management Department are responsible for the following committee and boards: Building and Construction Advisory Committee; Community Development Advisory Board; and the Planning and Zoning/Local Planning Agency.

BUILDING DIVISION

 

Building and Construction Advisory Committee

Meets:
Quarterly as needed, 6:30 p.m., at Growth Management Conference Room.
Description:
This committee assists the City staff and reviews and makes recommendations concerning all building and construction codes, ordinances, regulations, and resolutions as directed by the City Council. Board consists of seven (7) residents of county for at least two (2) years.

HOUSING & NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DIVISION

 

Community Development Advisory Board

Meets:
Quarterly as needed on third Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m., at City Hall Council Chambers
Description:
This board makes public service program recommendations to the City Council that pertain to the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The Board is responsible for reviewing: 1) All policies pertaining to affordable & fair housing in the City of Palm Bay; 2) Activities being proposed for the annual CDBG Action Plan submission to Brevard County and the Federal government; 3) The Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) prior to its consideration by the City Council; and 4) All revisions to the State Housing Initiatives Partnership's Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) prior to its consideration by the City Council.  Board consists of eleven (11) City residents.

LAND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

 

Planning and Zoning/Local Planning Agency

Meets:
1st Wednesday of each month, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall Council Chambers.
Description:
This board conducts hearings and makes recommendations to City Council in regards to requests for proposed changes in the land development regulations (rezoning, conditional uses), proposed subdivisions, and revisions to the comprehensive plan. Requires filing of Statement of Financial Interests with Brevard County Supervisor of Elections. Board consists of nine (9) residents of City for at least one (1) year; one (1) appointee by the Brevard County School Board; and one (1) appointee by the Patrick Air Force Base.
