Chalk Art Challenge

StormdrainArt

The City of Palm Bay along with the City of Melbourne, Brevard County Natural Resources Management and the Indian River Lagoon Nation Estuary Program invite local artists to enter a chalk art competition focused on stormdrains to help raise awareness that stormwater and the pollutants it carries drain into Turkey Creek and the Indian River Lagoon where they harm seagrasses and wildlife.

The competition will take place in three phases.  First, entrants will submit a design for pre-selection using the template provided in this document.  All submissions will be evaluated based on their artistic merit and messaging.  A selection committee will select five designs that best fir the spirit of the contest, and these artists will have the opportunity to complete their designs in chalk at full scale during Artworks of Eau Gallie Fine Arts Festival, which takes place on November 22-23, 2014.  Attendees of Artworks of Eau Gallie Fine Arts Festival will select the winning design and two runners up, and prizes will be awarded.  The three winning designs will be featured in media distributions, newsletters, on the web and in social media.
