Solid Waste & Recycling

The City of Palm Bay transitioned to an automated cart program on October 1, 2010. Each residential customer receives a 64-gallon cart for garbage (teal lid) and one 64-gallon cart for single stream recycling (yellow lid). Garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected once weekly as part of your regular collection service. In alignment with the established statewide recycling goal of 75% by the year 2020, the City of Palm Bay in partnership with Waste Management strive to reduce the amount of household waste by recycling.  However, residential customers can rent an additional cart for $0.50 per month per cart. For more information regarding the Solid Waste Program check out our Frequently Asked Questions document.

All of your services are on one bill! Palm Bay Utilities bills for Water/Sewer Services (if applicable), Solid Waste Services and Stormwater Utility on one combined bill. Waste Management is responsible for billing commercial properties and other multi-family residential properties (apartment homes, etc.).

WM Introduces its Recycle Often. Recycle Right.SM Campaign

It’s time to get back to the basics of good recycling

The program promotes the basics of recycling by simplifying guidelines and empowering everyone to become Recycling Ambassadors by pledging “to get back to the basics of good recycling” and encouraging others to do the same.

Waste Management’s Recycle Often. Recycle Right. campaign simplifies recycling by promoting three basic rules:

1. Recycle all bottles, cans and paper.
2. Keep items clean and dry.
3. No plastic bags in the recycling.

“These three recycling rules serve as the foundation for understanding how best to recycle,” said Dawn McCormick, Director of Communications for Waste Management. “Our customers want to do the right thing, and we want to help them do that. By emphasizing the most common recyclable products, and providing helpful tips to ensure those materials can in fact be recycled rather than end up in a landfill, Waste Management hopes to significantly impact the amount of usable materials entering our recycling facilities, which helps save resources, time, energy and raw materials.”
