Palm Bay representatives from the Health First 2017 Mayors' Fitness Challenge attended the kickoff event Saturday, February 4th. Mayor Capote got his team motivated and ready to move! #GoTeamPalmBay
February 4 - May 5, 2017 The challenge is on! All participants in the Mayors' Fitness Challenge start moving: The winning team will be determined by: the city who has the largest percentage of their community join the challenge, plus the largest number of minutes spent exercising. The municipality with the most points will win the challenger trophy, “Most Fit City 2017.”
Each week points will be awarded to each City Team based on the number of minutes spent exercising based on your city’s total population.

Inflatable 5K A new dynamic and extreme obstacle race, made up solely of inflatable obstacles. It will challenge you, surprise you, and leave you bouncing back for more! Saturday, February 25th, Wickham Park, wave times vary.
Move with the Mayor Mayor Capote challenges you to a morning full of exciting activities at the Ted Whitlock Community Center on March 4th 8:00a-12:00p! A walk will start off the day followed by basketball, pickleball, Zumba, and karaoke!
Corporate 5K Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the largest outdoor office party in the county! Join a team and have a great time with co-workers, family, and friends. March 9th 6:15p Wickham Park
Walk with FL Today Join us for a fun and peaceful walk/run through Turkey Creek Sanctuary on March 18th 8:00a. Mayor Capote and Bob Gabordi will be leading the event!
Pirate Plunder 2 Miler Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at 6:30pm at Meg O’Malley’s, Downtown Melbourne get in on a fun, pirate themed run/walk in Downtown Melbourne!
Walking Program Sign up for the Cornerstone Fitness program and walk away the pounds! Cornerstone syncs with your Fitbit tracking device and automatically upload your daily steps to track your activity over the next 8 weeks. Registration is February 15th – February 28th and the program runs from March 1st – April 30th.
Try Something New
Total Health Tuesdays - Beginning March 7th, join us at City Hall Annex Community Room every Tuesday at 5:30p for Yoga, Pilates, Meditation, or Tai Chi. A new routine and focus every week! What to bring: yoga mat and light hand weights 2-3 lbs
Pickleball - The Basics of Pickleball: A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net. Played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. Played as doubles or singles.
