Technical Rescue Team (formerly known as USAR)

The Palm Bay Fire-Rescue Department has been certified by the State of Florida as a Type II Light Technical Rescue Team.  Our team designation is 524 under the State of Florida initiative. 

The 18 members (6 per shift) of Palm Bay  Fire-Rescue have completed extensive training in Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Trench Rescue, Vehicle & Mechanical Rescue and Structural Collapse.  The members are certified at an operational level and continue to hone their skills and abilities through additional training and education.  These members are primarily assigned to Station 2, responding to calls for service in Engine 2 and Squad 2. 

These personnel are the ones who will respond with special knowledge and equipment to the various emergency incidents that may be encountered in our community.  They are also available to respond to other jurisdictions as requested.
