City of palm bay employees meet united way need
Posted: 02/26/08
We all recognize that in tight budget times often the first groups to see diminished funding are the not-for-profit agencies, like the United Way of Brevard County. That is why, when Sheriff Jack Parker approached the City last fall and challenged the employees of Palm Bay to increase our commitment from $8,200 to $10,000 I was confident that that could be accomplished. I am looking forward to working with Chief Abraira over the coming years as he continues in the tradition of building a strong Fire Department for the citizens of Palm Bay.
When I swore in Chief Abraira, I deviated from the traditional oath of office and selected the Athenian Oath to be administered. The Athenian Oath was recited by the men of ancient Athens reaching the age of 17.
