council seats & terms

The City of Palm Bay is governed by a five (5) member City Council elected at large on a non-partisan basis.  Although Councilmembers are elected by seats, all of the officials are elected by city-wide vote.

Councilmembers serve four (4) year terms and are limited to serving three (3) consecutive terms. The Mayor and two Councilmembers are elected in the Presidential Election year and the other two (2) Councilmembers are elected the subsequent even year.

Elections are held in November of the even years, but in November of each year, a Councilmember is selected to serve as Deputy Mayor.
