Tony Rosa Community Center to Host Free Swinging Sweetheart Valentine Dance
The Palm Bay Parks & Recreation Department will host a free Swinging Valentine’s Dance at the Tony Rosa Community Center, 1502 Port Malabar Blvd NE in Palm Bay, on Thursday, February 8 from 7-9 p.m. The Palm Bay Community Band aka The Band of the Bay will perform a wide variety of dance favorites live.
The Band of the Bay was formed when the Palm Bay City Council unanimously agreed support a community band and provide a rehearsal facility. Thanks primarily to the efforts of Jim Milucky the first gathering of musicians was held in September of 2016. Consisting entirely of volunteer musicians, the band has grown in number and repertoire and finished 2017 with a performance for the “Mayor’s Ball” at the Rialto Hilton in Melbourne, Florida.
The Band holds open rehearsals each Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building located at 1455 Main Street, 2 blocks west of US Highway 1 at the corner of Palm Bay Road and Main Street in Palm Bay, Florida. Musicians of all ages and performance levels are welcome. The only requirements are that they can read music and bring their own instrument and music stand.
