Firefighter's Annual Boot Drive for MDA

Firefighters are asking the public to "fill the boot" as they man the City's busiest intersections to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The annual Boot Drive will take place this year on September 10th, 16th, 17th and 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition to their boot collection, Firefighters will also be selling t-shirts for $15 to help raise money.Return to full list >>
"This year we will have Courtney Warner and her 3-year old son AJ, joining us at the drive on Saturday, September 10th," explained Nikki Coppola, Fundraising Coordinator for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. "AJ is so excited to be part of bringing awareness to MDA and he can't wait to hang out with the firefighters."
Palm Bay Firefighters will be at the following intersections collecting donations and selling t-shirts from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm:
- September 10th, 2016:Walmart 1040 Malabar Rd, SE Palm Bay, FL 32907.
- September 16th, 17th, 18th, 2016: Intersection of Palm Bay Road and Minton Road and Malabar Road and San Fillipo Drive
Palm Bay is joining firefighters from across the country in support of the MDA. The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is the largest national sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). More than 280,000 members of the IAFF in the United States and Canada are pledged to saving lives, both as firefighters and paramedics and as the strongest campaigners for the worldwide research efforts of MDA to eradicate 40 neuromuscular diseases. The contributions of the firefighters also go towards MDA's summer camps for children, professional and public health education, and other programs.
